Poetry Permaculture: Garden Lounge’s two-year growth

This month we turn the spotlight on Michael Aiken, of Garden Lounge in celebration of the independent literary Creative Space’s second anniversary on King Street, Newtown, Sydney.  A book shop where you can go to browse, read, and just soak in the ambiance of cultures and the Garden Lounge diverse community.  In June, Aiken also advances in age and with all this excitement Sydney poet Adam Aitken thought to share with us a few recorded thoughts with Michael in conversation.  Press play >

Celebrate Garden Lounge Creative Space and Michael’s Birthday with live music and poetry performances, including open mic!

A special feature performance will include music and poetry by long-time Garden Lounge collaborator Danny Sky on words, with Papa Sky on music.

Danny Sky is a Newtown poet and artist. She has self-published three books, turning mental illness and heartbreak into poetic inspiration. Many tell her she’s like Bukowski but she really wants to be Allen Ginsberg, so she’d better try a little harder! She will be accompanied by her father, John Christie (aka Papa Sky) who has turned Danny’s words into beautiful folk songs.
